We aren’t the first to say it, and we won’t be the last. 2020 has been a year like no other. But, you made it through. You’ve finished high school in the middle of one of the most challenging years the world has seen. That means you’re more than prepared to take on your 2021 uni adventure!

What will my uni experience look like in Term 1, 2021?

With the latest easing of COVID-19 restrictions, life is returning to a sense of normalcy. This means Term 1 at UNSW is looking more and more like the vibrant campus experience that is central to our unique university community. The Australian and NSW public health efforts as well as UNSW safety measures mean that your experience on campus can be social, lively and safe.

We’ll kick this off by welcoming you and your parents to Info Day on campus on Saturday, 19 December and planning for O-Week 2021 on campus is also well underway.

Will classes be online or face-to-face?

All lectures in Term 1, 2021 will be online. However, most tutorials, labs and practicals are being offered face-to-face – if you can attend these classes in person, we encourage you to do so. It’s a great way to build the connections that will help shape the rest of your uni experience.

What if I can’t make it in person?

Most classes will also be offered online for students unable to attend.

However, there are some courses with components that can’t be completed remotely. You can find out what these courses are on our Coronavirus Information Hub. If one of these classes is a core component of your degree, you may need to look into taking an elective or an alternative course to progress your studies.

Student life – everything outside the classroom

One of the best parts about returning to campus is the social aspect. But it’s not all coffee catch-ups and Fridays at Roundhouse

From clubs and societies, to sport, volunteering, events and more - in 2021, you’ll be able to experience a range of student life in person. Sign up to Arc – UNSW Student Life to discover all the exciting opportunities available outside the classroom at UNSW.
